Four Nocturnes with the Neoclassical masterpieces of Antonio Canova.
Antonio Canova carved stunning Neoclassical works in marble during the 1700s and 1800s. At Venice's Museo Correr, Karen's glass Nocturnes are presented side-by-side with Canova's masterpieces in an exhibition called Dialoghi Canoviani: Notturni di Karen LaMonte. The two artists' works are exhibited in silent conversation with each other, connecting past and present through sculpture.

"The dialogue [between LaMonte and Canova] reveals two visions of art. The contrast can be understood as the difference between description and deduction."
— Eraldo Mauro, Curator
"Canova finished his marbles with thin wax coatings to make the stone more flesh-like, more real. I think about this a lot. So much of my work is about preserving real details—stitches, the warp and weft of fabric, impressions of an actual body."
— Karen LaMonte
