An intimate exhibition of four Nocturnes in dialogue with the masterpieces of Antonio Canova. Considered the greatest sculptor of his age, Canova defined Neoclassicism. This is the inaugural exhibition in the Museo Correr’s series Dialogues with Canova, which connects past and present through sculpture.

"The dialogue [between LaMonte and Canova] reveals two visions of art. The contrast can be understood as the difference between description and deduction."
— Eraldo Mauro, Curator

"Canova finished his marbles with thin wax coatings to make the stone more flesh-like, more real. I think about this a lot. So much of my work is about preserving real details—stitches, the warp and weft of fabric, impressions of an actual body."
— Karen LaMonte
