Retrospective featuring 60 sculptures

This major exhibition featured five dozen works, many never shown publicly before. In addition to focusing on familiar bodies of work, like the Nocturnes dresses and Floating World kimonos, the exhibition included new cloud sculptures, historic works on paper, and early bas-relief draperies not seen in nearly two decades.

The Munson Museum is a gem. Its purpose-built Philip Johnson building houses a collection filled with surprising and important works of 19th-century American art.
